October 2016 #189
In the spirit of Halloween, the October 2016 issue of Juxtapoz celebrates the artist's ability to wear many influences all in one painting. We start with a cover story on influential NYC-based painter, Nicole Eisenman who is fresh off a museum retrospective at the New Museum. She jumps from style to style, mastering a unique combination of comic book pop appeal with a deep, rich tradition of American painting. We also feature the great and influential Diane Arbus, travel to Santa Fe with Robert Williams, make life-sized puppets with Marnie Weber, climb 4-story buildings to paint murals with 2501, eat tacos with Jordan Bogash, and recount the masters with Adam Miller. Oh, and we travel to Gothenburg, Sweden with Ekta.
Also in the October issue:
—Home Land Security in San Francisco
—Black Mountain School in North Carolina
—Jack Sachs' Dancing Sandwich
—Antonio Lopez's Future Funk Fashion
—Christian Rex van Minnen talks influences
