The print is a special aerial view photograph of Conor Harrington's "The Blind Patriot" mural in downtown Miami, with the city space looking south behind it, a poignant backdrop to this year's election.
Painted during our ambitious Juxtapoz Clubhouse project in downtown Miami in 2017, 3x Juxtapoz cover artist and London-based painter Conor Harrington created this massive mural in response to the evolving movement in America that coincided with Trump's first year in office. At the time, Colin Kaepernick was being chastised for kneeling during the national anthem, and America's relationship with patriotism and free speech was at a tenuous moment.
The mural speaks of a complicated past, present and future, and as we enter and leave the 2020 election cycle, this work feels as vibrant and essential as ever.
Aerial photograph by Paula Kelley. Thank you to Stanley Sudol for all his work on this project.
